The financial centre, and more besides: District 1 runs from Raffles Place and Shenton Way through Boat Quay and Havelock Road to Chinatown and People’s Park, where its older housing sits. Private homes here are high-rise and on 99-year leases. The change worth watching is Marina South, planned by URA as a car-lite precinct with an underground pedestrian network joining the Gardens by the Bay and Marina South stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line; its first housing site was only sold in June 2023.
